Where the grass is really greener…
If you’re looking to spend some time amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, why not treat yourselves to a blissful weekend getaway or escape the world for a glorious, reinvigorating week? For the ultimate in stress-free relaxation, the Kilnsey Estate has three cosy self-catering holiday cottages – Sikes Laithe, Stables End and Barn on the Green.
Scenic Upper Wharfedale is home to the slow-flowing River Wharfe, green meadows packed with munching sheep, hills criss-crossed with ancient hand-built walls and stone barns – all overlooked by the heather-topped Great Whernside. The unspoilt parish of Kilnsey is a special place to stay, home to the much-loved Yorkshire landmark Kilnsey Crag, red squirrels and the rarest orchid in the country. There are plenty of activities to enjoy without needing to use the car, with the historic Kilnsey Estate offering fishing for both beginners and experienced anglers as well as a nature trail and popular café and shop. If you prefer to relax and watch the world go by then why not book a peaceful horse ride beside the river.
If you’re seeking adventure as well as relaxation you can step outside the front door to experience some of the best walks and views in the National Park. The valley is a paradise for cyclists (both road and mountain biking) and fell runners and you can play tennis on our private court. Charming unspoilt Dales villages such as Grassington, Kettlewell and Malham are all within walking distance.
Living in such a special place, sustainability is hugely important for us, with most properties heated with eco-friendly heat pumps or biomass and we also provide green cleaning products. We’re proud to have received a Green Tourism Gold award for our sustainability.
