At Kilnsey Park we prefer to let the romance and beauty of nature do the talking. When it comes to weddings don’t believe in stiff formality for the sake of it. We love the relaxed yet chic vibe of a rustic wedding, which is in harmony with the organic simplicity of the Park’s natural places and spaces – giving you and your guests a real sense of escape.

Take your inspiration for a rustic wedding from:

Nature’s garden: from the carpets of woodland bluebells in March, to the meadows of buttercups in August and the berry heavy trees of Autumn. Why not style your hair, attire, flowers, food, lighting and decorations to connect with the season and its fruits? We can put you in touch with florists and flower growers who can supply locally sourced in season blooms for decorations, bouquets and hair garlands.

The elements: embrace the power of nature’s elements: earth, water, fire and air. At Kilnsey Park you can camp or party by a stream or the river. And, with the Yorkshire Dales boasting one of the UK’s darkest night skies, your evening is guaranteed to be naturally starlit. Fire bowls for warmth and light in the evenings can also be arranged, and embrace the rain if it comes – going barefoot or wearing wellies can add a chic twist to your day.

The sounds of nature: From birdsong to the river slowly flowing by, there will always be a harmonious background hum to your day at Kilnsey Park. For music, think unplugged acoustic sets and folk bands which can organise sing alongs around the camp fire or even a traditional ceilidh dance. There are several locally based folk bands and musicians we can put you in touch with.

Farm to fork: Good, wholesome locally sourced food makes the perfect rustic wedding feast. Our list of suppliers includes everything from artisan pie makers to organic caterers and vegan chefs. For a truly rustic feel, why not install a grazing table full of freshly prepared raw foods, nuts and seeds?

A secret garden: Want to feel cossetted away for the day? We know all about hygge charm and so can create a rustic idyll for you to escape to, with fire bowls, cushions, candles and blankets. We can even prepare a spring water filled, eco heated hot tub for you to relax in.

Children and animals: A rustic wedding is a child friendly wedding, offering plenty of opportunities for hide and seek and nature treasure hunts – just make sure children are dressed to play! For added fun, why not arrange to have an alpaca or miniature donkey as your ring bearer? You can also ride down the aisle on one of our magnificent horses, surely the epitome of age-old rustic charm!
