Frequently Asked Questions for our fishing courses

Where do I go when I arrive at the fishery?

Please make your way to the cafe by 9.15am. If you arrive earlier please feel free to have a wander around the site.

Is fishing tackle provided on the course?

Yes, everything you need is provided.

Do I need an Environment Agency Rod Licence?

You do not need a rod licence, as all our courses are run by an Angling Trust Licensed Game Angling Coach (see details below) so for the duration of the course you will be covered under their EA Fishing Licence.

The rules/requirements associated with the EA Fishing Licence will be discussed during the course.

What else do I need to bring?

Sunglasses or polaroids (even if it is cloudy they are needed) and a hat. Also don’t forget to bring suitable clothing for all types of weather on the day – the Dales weather can be quite changeable!

What is an Angling Trust Licenced Game Angling Coach?

The Angling Trust is the National Governing Body for angling in England, and is the only organisation that offers a coaching licence. This proves to parents, children, groups, organisations and others that the Licenced Coach is appropriately qualified and regularly engages in training in order to maintain the highest possible coaching standards. It also gives them assurance that the Licenced Coach has:

  • had full and appropriate safeguarding checks completed and has been risk assessed;
  • a valid and current 1st Aid Certificate
  • Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to the sum of £5m

Once I am booked on a course can I change the date?

Up to 21 days prior to the course date you can change your booking to another available course date.
