Fly Fly Fishery Rules

These rules are applied for the enjoyment and safety of all our visitors. Anybody in breach of the rules will be asked to leave immediately.

NEW RULES FOR 2026

  1. No fish over 5lb to be taken at any time. Any fish over 5lb will be charged at £5 per lb for the excess weight.
  2. All anglers must sign in before fishing (including those who have pre-booked).
  3. All browns and blue trout must be returned or will be charged at £10 per lb.
  4. All anglers must sign out and submit a catch return card before departure.

TICKETS

  • Fishing starts from the time specified on your ticket.
  • If you have purchased your ticket online, please bring proof with you (either a print-out or email on your phone). Customers who pay on the day will be issued a ticket.
  • Anglers aged 16 and over must hold a valid rod fishing licence. Children under 13 do not need a licence. Licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free – however you’ll still need to get a junior licence online before fishing – see below.
  • Rod licences are obtainable by phoning 0344 800 5386 or online by clicking here.
  • A junior ticket is for ages 14 and under. Juniors must be accompanied by an adult.

METHOD

  • Fly fishing only, no baiting or spinning.
  • No Egg flies, Boobies or worm replica flies (eg shammy/shimmy/bloodworm).
  • Strictly single barbless hooks only.
  • Fish being put back must be kept in a net in the water before being quickly and carefully unhooked and returned. Please wet hands before handling fish.
  • No photographing fish that you do not intend to keep.
  • No wading.
  • No rod sharing.

BAG LIMIT

  • Number of fish taken as specified on your ticket – no extra fish can be taken except by prior arrangement with staff.
  • No pooling of fish between anglers.
  • All fish to be taken must be kept with you or at the processing unit.
  • The management reserve the right to inspect cars, tackle bags etc. at any time.

BEHAVIOUR

  • Anglers must not act in a way detrimental to other anglers or the fishery – no swearing, drugs or alcohol.
  • No dogs.
  • No littering, please use bins provided.
  • No reserving pegs during half hour+ absences (eg extended lunch) and please do not leave equipment unattended at a peg.
  • Spectators by permission only.

ACCESS

  • Always fish from the platforms provided and nowhere else.
