Welcome to the latest fishing report.
The first Bank Holiday of the year was a busy one with the fly lakes being very busy over the weekend and also on the estate in general, with some lovely weather to help out.
There were many anglers catching into double figures over the weekend which was great to see and some very happy anglers, although the big fish seemed elusive.
It seems that that most of our regular fisherman are back out enjoying some good sport after a long winter and it is great to have them back with us.
Also seeing some anglers appearing on the lake through recommendation which is a true testament to quality of fishing that can be had at Kilnsey Park.
Tight lines and happy casts, Leigh.
PS please note that whilst the main fishing report comes out monthly, we update the latest stats and flies (see ‘The Lowdown’ and ‘Top tactics and flies’ below) every two weeks.

Top tactics and flies
Updated 15 April 2022
The fish are more active as the water temperatures rise and have started to chase lures again but buzzers under the bung are still catching well. Dry flies have been working well along with bloodworm patterns. There are also some daddy long-legs appearing around the fishery so give those a try.
Top flies for this period: Black Buzzers, yellow owls (emergers), sedge patterns or other bushy dries, crane fly, and of course damsels – top fly being the good old Damsel nymph.
Other information
Courses – The courses are now in full swing with plenty of participants enjoying their first steps into fly fishing.
Weed – We are sourcing barley straw bails to help combat weed growth I hope to have these in place soon.
Booking your ticket – Please remember to book online if you can as we are starting to see a few anglers turning up without any form of booking, we will always try to accommodate you but if the lakes are full you may be disappointed and we would not want this to happen.
